What is Shiva Linga: Shiva = Almighty Father +Linga = symbol. Linga is the fire, divine light. Lingam is a powerful energy generator and a potent nurturing stone that can be used to heal and balance energies in a supportive and gentle way. The Shiva Lingam is one of the most revered stones on the entire planet.
According to Vedic text, the linga means 'all-pervading space in which the whole universe is in the process of formation and dissolution'. The Shiva Lingam illustrates duality in a way of harmony and totality. The egg shape represents the form of a curve, which surrounds the universe and forms an absolute wholeness. In that essence, it also indicates divine acceptance of the Universe 'as is'. The lingam's shape also is representative of the power of Shiva, the masculine force. The markings on the linga itself represent the divine feminine energy as the creative power of the Universe.

Where are they from: Found only in what is now known as the sacred Narmada River in India.
It is believed that a meteorite hit the Earth in the mountainous province of Maharashtra near the source of the Narmada River, about 300 miles north of Bombay in the west central portion of India. The Lingams are harvested once annually in a special ceremony from the River Narmada during the dry season at low water levels. The stones are naturally egg shaped by the river's action and are polished by hand, usually with Ghee (clarified butter).

How are they formed: It is believed that the fusion of meteorite and earth minerals - quartz, basalt, iron oxide, agate and chalcedony -  gave rise not only to a distinctive type of crystalline rock but also one with the highest resonance known today. It is this unique mineral composition that rendered these beautiful  Lingams their extraordinary energetic qualities.

Markings: Each Lingam is unique with its own markings.
The colour and patterning of the stone vary a lot, from grey to beige, to brown and a reddish brown. The  Lingam is also a highly 'communicative' stone each with its own individual 'personality', purpose and reason for being. Let the markings speak to you. It is also believed that as there is a lingam destined for each one of us, the lingam will find its way to us when the time is right and when we are ready to receive it into our lives. We source and make available the exquisite and distinctive Lingams, paying particular attention to their energy content, markings and colors including the uniqueness and overall beauty of each piece.
